About Rani Iyer
Dr. Rani Iyer: Pioneering Ecoliteracy and Nature-Based Learning for Young Minds
Meet Dr. Rani Iyer
Dr. Rani Iyer is a passionate educator, researcher, and lifelong learner who believes that nature is one of the greatest teachers a child can have. With two PhDs—one in Ecology and another in Education—she’s spent years weaving science, storytelling, and playing into meaningful ways for children to learn about the world around them.
Her academic journey began with a deep curiosity about the Earth. That led her to pursue Terrestrial Ecology, where she studied ecosystems and how living things interact. Later, her interest in how children learn inspired her to earn a second PhD, focusing on Language, Literature, and Technology in education. Through her research and teaching, she’s found powerful ways to help children connect with nature—not just by reading about it, but by experiencing it.

What She Does?
Dr. Iyer’s work centers on ecoliteracy—helping children understand and appreciate the environment from a young age. She’s currently developing a collection of nature-inspired toys and games that encourage curiosity, creativity, and care for the planet. These tools are designed for parents and educators who want more than screens and worksheets—they want learning that’s joyful, meaningful, and rooted in the real world.
Why It Matters
Rani’s love for nature started in childhood. Growing up surrounded by trees, rivers, and traditional stories, she learned early on that nature is full of wonder—and wisdom. That love stayed with her, shaping her career and her commitment to early childhood education.
She believes that every child should have the chance to explore, imagine, and learn through nature, no matter where they live. And she’s here to make that happen—through research, resources, and play.
